Document Your Now | January 2019

Hey! It’s Karina here with Light and Armour Photography. First blog post! As I announced on my Facebook business page, I am stepping away from the business aspects of photography for a majority of 2019, as we welcome baby Jude in April and transition to a family of five. The thought of “walking” away from photography for the entire year was not what I had in mind, though, and so I created the group, “Document Your Now.”

My vision for Document Your Now is to encourage us all, professional photographer or not, to document our daily life. The moments we think we’ll remember. I’ll look back on images from months or years ago, and wonder how I could’ve forgotten the details. Blissful moments with my husband, precious knuckle dimples of my newborn, a sweet treat I spent hours creating, carefree travels, beloved embraces with family members who have passed. Images are the gift we give ourselves when our memory fails. The gift we didn’t know we needed, when we convince ourselves, “I’ll remember.” This small notion sparked my entire photography passion. To preserve my now, which is ever so fleeting. I hope this group can inspire each of us to share our work, develop our talent, and grow as a photographer / artist.

To track our growth and our year, I encouraged group members to begin a 365 day project (photo a day) or a 52 week photo challenge (a photo a week) for 2019. I am personally doing a 365 day project / photo a day.

Monthly, I will be blogging and sharing favorites from the group. I hope you enjoy our month in review! It was difficult to just pick one photo from each person!

Happy 2019, folks!

It's going to stay up so that I can document more moments of me WITH the kids in 2019, regardless if I've had the time to shower and wear weather-appropriate clothing (or not😅)”

Amy Brech “These last 2 weeks were a bit of a chaotic blessing. We moved off post and are embracing the change this entails. The kids have been so helpful and working really hard. On a late start school day we stopped by the old place to clean and have a Nerf was around the boxes of pictures we took off the walls!!!”

Shannon Foster Kshywonis" “14/365 I am so grateful for this. A short backstory. My sweet girl my middle child is a bit of a firecracker. We didn’t find out what gender baby was before birth and up until the last moments she insisted if the baby was not a girl she was going to “throw them out a window!” She would not even consider liking a baby brother. And then he came and then she changed and I’m so in love.”
